WE ARE The Association of Young Psychologists in Bulgaria "4th of April" (AYPB) is a nongovernmental, non-profit professional organization representing psychology students and young psychologists in Bulgaria. Over 300 young psychologists, students, PhD students and young specialists from throughout the country are members of the Association. The Association is represented in any major university in Bulgaria teaching Psychology. Partners of the AYPB are Psychology chairs in the various universities of Bulgaria as well as the Society of Psychologists in Bulgaria, the Bulgarian Association of Psychology, the Bulgarian Hypnosis Association, among other psychology-related organizations in Bulgaria. AYPB is also collaborating successfully with other youth NGOs in an attempt to foster the development of young people.



OUR GOALS
The AYPB shares the following main goals:

1. Advocate the professional interests of psychologists and psychology students in the country, provide support to their education and professional realization.

2. Take care of psychology students in the various universities in the country by means of providing information, cooperation with their qualification for projects of a wide spectrum of foundations and institutions, foster their professional qualification, integration and interaction with other student communities.

3. Improve the quality of training in psychology in Bulgarian universities.

4. Encourage and optimize the communication and interaction of young psychologists on a national and international scale.

5. Interact and partner with student organizations of young psychologists from Europe and the rest of the world.

HISTORY
Right from the onset of our Association back in 1998, the '4th of April' AYPB has received acknowledgement as one of the main psychological organizations in Bulgaria. Ever since the beginning, we have contributed to a series of seminars, briefings and trainings as organizers and co-organizers. All National Psychology Conferences held in Blagoevgrad have had us as their co-organizer. The Professional Meeting of Bulgarian Psychologists in 2003 was supported by AYPB as a co-organizer and we have also been co-organizers of the III Conference of Psychology in Bulgaria 2005 and the III Psychology Congress in Bulgaria. The AYPB is working in partnership with the Bulgarian Psychology Association. Our latest achievement is the First Young Psychologist's Balkan Meeting in Blagoevgrad 2006 of which we were hosts. We have realized a number of initiatives dedicated to supporting the psychology students in Bulgaria. Since 1999 the organization operates a local structure in Blagoevgrad and as of today is represented in any psychology teaching university in Bulgaria.
